The 74th Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic fervor by the Income tax Deartment, at the Aayakar Bhawan, Sector-17E, Chandigarh on 26.01.2023. Shri Parneet Singh Sachdev, Pr. Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, North West Region, Chandigarh was the chief guest on the occasion and unfurled the tricolor and received the guard of honour. The chief guest and the senior officers of the department released the tricolor balloons to symbolize the rising stature of the country as well as the department. On this occasion, a colorful cultural programme was held in which children of officials of the income tax department, the Gurukul Global School and Shivalik Public School presented various patriotic themed items such as poem, group dances and songs. Through the various performances, the children made the audience remember the sacrifice of our nation’s soliders for getting us precious independence from the British Rule and also guarding the nation’s frontiers day and night in turbulent times. They also emphasized universal brotherhood and celebrated the diversity of our mother nation. The chief guest, Sh. Parneet Singh Sachdev, delivered a rousing speech in which he highlighted the great role of the Income Tax Department in the nation building process. He traced the journey of the Department from the days just after the country became independent to today’s time when it is a major contributor towards the taxes of the country’s financial kitty. He exhorted the officers and officials of the department to keep working diligently for collecting taxes as well as rendering quality taxpayer services. He praised the performances of the children and motivated them to become model citizens when they grow up. Also present on the occasion was Sh. Avdhesh Kumar Mishra, DGIT(Inv.), Chandigarh, Sh. N. Jayasankar, PCIT-1, Chandigarh, Dr. G. Phani Kishore, PCIT, Dr. Devender Singh, CIT and others senior officers and officials of the department alongwith members of their family.
