Sensitization Programme regarding persons with disabilities (Divyangjan)
for the Staff at PGIMER.
The Department of Hospital Administration at PGIMER, Chandigarh organized a
Sensitization Programme regarding persons with disability (Divyangjan) on
29.03.2022. The Sensitization Programme was organized to further the
implementation of provisions of The Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD)
Act, 2016. During the Sensitization Programme, the Supervisory staff at PGIMER
was sensitized about various aspects of RPwD Act, 2016. Earlier similar such
seminar was organized in the month of December last year.
Sh. Kumar Gaurav Dhawan, Deputy Director (Administration) highlighted the
need of such seminars to sensitize the staff about the needs of Specially-abled.
He spoke about various steps being taken at PGIMER to make the Institute
Specially-abled friendly in letter as well as spirit.
Prof. Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent, talked about the need to bring
attitudinal change for sensitizing the staff towards the needs of Differently
abled. He said that the staff has to be sensitized towards special needs of fellow
workers as well as patients and their attendants.
Dr.Ramesh Kataria from Department of Chemistry, Panjab University spoke
passionately about his experiences in implementation of the Provisions of
RPwD Act 2016.
Speaking during the Seminar, Prof. Sunil Dogra, Chairman, Grievances of
Differently abled Employees Committee at PGIMER discussed about the
Implementation of RPwD Act & making the Institute Divyangjan friendly.
Sh. P.S.Saini, SHE briefed about various structural changes that have been made
at the Institute to make it differently abled friendly and need to incorporate
provisions at design stage itself.
A panel discussion was also held during sensitization session and various
questions of audience were taken up and suggestions were sought to make
PGIMER Specially-Abled friendly.
