             International Women’s Day (IWD) was celebrated in the Department of Microbial Biotechnology, Panjab University to show appreciation and gratitude towards women. There was a discussion around the theme “Embrace equity” with the agendas from IWD, 2023 campaign being brought up during the event. On this special occasion, Dr. Nishima Wangoo, Assistant Professor, Department of Applied Science, UIET, PU was invited as the guest speaker. She presented an informative and interactive seminar on “Breaking the barriers in Science’’. She discussed the problems faced by women in society and also inspired the female students to pursue higher studies in the field of science and research. Her talk encouraged the students to become more confident in facing the challenges of life.  Further, the theme for IWD, 2023 by United Nations ‘DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality’ was aligned by a play performed by students of the department for achieving gender equality and women empowerment. In the end, embrace equity pose was captured to show solidarity.
