The missing girl was to be adopted by a family in Italy but before that she was traced and handed over to her family safely.

Chandigarh August 21: The Haryana Police is working dedicatedly not only to ensure safety of people in the State but bringing back smile to faces in neighboring States also by reuniting missing children with their families.

Stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana Police said that the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the State Crime Branch, the premier investigating agency of the Haryana Police, has succeeded in tracing a missing girl, from Uttar Pradesh within six days. The girl went missing from Delhi about two years ago. The missing girl was to be adopted by a family in Italy and the process had already started for her adoption. Meanwhile, State Crime Branch Chief, Additional Director General of Police, Sh. OP Singh has congratulated the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) for making significant efforts towards tracing missing children and also curbing the child trafficking menace.

The spokesman further said that in a complaint to Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, Panchkula, Shakeel Ahmed, a resident of Delhi told that her minor daughter, who was only 5 years old, had gone missing from Delhi in March 2021. He had also lodged a complaint in this regard at the nearest police station of Jagatpuri, Delhi. But even after two years, her daughter could not be traced. He further said that he has left no place around  Uttar Pradesh and Delhi where he did not search her but in vain. Besides, he also spent about Rs 50,000 on searching for her.

The spokesman said that after receiving the complaint in the State Crime Branch, the case was handed over to ASI Rajesh Kumar. During the investigation, it came to light that the girl had gone missing while going with her mother. Based on this, ASI Rajesh Kumar started contacting all the private Ashrams around Delhi physically and also through phone to gather information about the missing girl. Meanwhile, when Gharonda Bal Ashram, District Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh was contacted, ASI Rajesh Kumar traced the girl on the basis of the photograph. The Ashram operator informed that the girl had never revealed her name in the last about two years and they used to lovingly call her “Machli”.

The Spokesman said that the minor girl was rescued by the Ghaziabad police and was brought safely to a private Ashram. During the conversation, it was revealed that the girl was mentally ill, due to which she did not even talk to anyone. He said that due to non-availability of any information about the minor’s family, the adoption process was started.  Earlier, a family from Chennai had expressed willingness to adopt the minor, but things could not materialize due to some reasons. Meanwhile, an Italian family had started the legal process to adopt the minor girl and within 15 days the daughter had to go to Italy. Had it taken even a little more time, the minor would have gone to Italy and perhaps it would have been impossible to trace her again. But before that, the Anti Human Trafficking Unit of the Haryana Police traced the girl child and handed over to her father safely.

In only six days, ASI Rajesh Kumar of AHTU, Panchkula reunited the daughter with her father, who was missing for more than 2 years. As soon as the minor girl was traced, she was identified by making a video call on her father’s phone number. The Minor’s father Shakeel Ahmed has thanked the Haryana Police for taking swift action which helped in tracing and reuniting his daughter to the family.
