ARD’s Annual Sports Event Gladius to kick-off Today Evening
In the vibrant city of Chandigarh, an exhilarating spectacle is about to unfold within the hallowed halls of PGI. Prepare yourselves for the grand arrival of the second edition of the Annual Sports Event, aptly named Gladius. With the Resident Doctors Association at the helm, this gathering promises to surpass the triumphs of its predecessor, igniting fervor of anticipation amongst the residents.
From the 12th to the 18th of June, the atmosphere will be electrified as PGI transforms into a haven of sporting prowess. Over 1000 resident doctors and faculty members have eagerly enrolled for this remarkable occasion, a striking testament to their dedication. Notably, a significant number of talented female residents have graced the registrations, ready to display their prowess alongside their male counterparts – Dr.Naveen , President ARD.
On the inaugural day of the event, the esteemed Director of PGI, Prof. Vivek Lal, shall officiate the commencement of Gladius, breathing life into the festivities. Amidst their demanding schedules and relentless dedication to their noble profession, the resident doctors yearn for an opportunity to nourish both their physical and mental well-being. This extraordinary event aims to accomplish just that.
A multitude of indoor and outdoor games await, each showcasing the resident doctors’ hidden talents and competitive spirit. The battlefields will include the Cricket pitch, the Volleyball court, the Futsal arena, the Badminton courts, the Table Tennis area, the Chess battleground, the Athletics track, the Basketball court, the Carrom tables, and even a heated Tug of War arena.
Dr. Vipendra and Dr. Kapil will orchestrate the Volleyball extravaganza, while Dr. Manoj shall preside over the Street Cricket showdown. The pulsating rhythm of Futsal will be conducted by the capable hands of Dr. Vivek and Dr. Mani, and the Basketball court will be under the watchful eye of Dr. Bhardwaj. The lightning-fast volleys of Table Tennis will be helmed by Dr. Binayak and Dr. Karthick, while the Badminton courts will be under the expert guidance of Dr. Anil and Dr. Niveditha. Dr. Subhamon and Dr. Vandana will ensure the smooth flow of Carrom battles, while Dr. Rishin shall oversee the strategic chess matches. Dr. Manoj and Dr. Naveen will lead the teams in the intense Tug of War challenge, and the track events will be skillfully coordinated by Dr. Selvan.
Adhering to the needs of patients and the demanding OPD schedule, the games will commence in the evenings after 5 pm. Elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure the seamless execution of the games even during the night hours. Within the prestigious Zakir Hall, the resplendent Swimming Pool Complex, and the sprawling Sports Complex, champions will be born, friendships will be forged, and memories will be etched into the annals of PGI’s history.
With Gladius, the Resident Doctors Association endeavors to infuse joy and vivacity into the lives of the residents, uniting them in a celebration of their shared experiences.
