Academic qualifications for future recruitment to the post of gram sachiv

Chandigarh, July 20–The Haryana Government has decided that academic qualifications for future recruitment to the post of gram sachiv would be graduation instead of matric. Apart from this, the candidate should have diploma in panchayati raj and knowledge of IT.
A decision to this effect was taken at a review meeting of different schemes held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, here, today. Development and Panchayats Minister, Mr. O.P. Dhankar, was also present at the meeting.
The Chief Minister said the number of posts of gram sachiv would also be increased. At present, there are about 2,200 gram sachiv whereas there are more than 6,000 village panchayats in the state. There should be one gram sachiv for one big panchayat and one gram sachiv for two small panchayats.
There are 2,294 clusters in the state under which 1,783 gram sachivalyas have been set up and are functional and funds have been allocated to 511. Classification of gram sachivalyas should be done to know their actual area and the facilities required in that area. Accordingly, development of gram sachivalyas should be carried out.
Mr. Manohar Lal said gram sachivalyas should be established on at least half an acre of land and it should have provision of a library.
The Chief Minister directed officers to prepare data of all the 2,294 clusters. A chowkidar should be deputed in each gram sachivalya and block development and panchayat officer should visit the gram sachivalya being set up in his area and inspect the work.
Mr. Manohar Lal said approval had been given for opening 820 vyayamshalas in the state out of which 440 are ready and work is in progress on 220. He directed the officers to prepare data of vyayamshalas which have been completed, and, of those which are under progress.
The meeting was informed that recruitment of 1,000 yoga teachers will be done; 250 have already been appointed and applications have been invited for the remaining 750 posts. Draft of the Inter-District Council has been prepared and it would include chairman of all district councils, chairman of block samitis and mayors of municipal councils. Apart from this, ministers would also be included in the council and notification in this regard would be issued soon.
