Talk on Artificial Intelligence in Drug Discovery
The PU-IIT Ropar Regional Accelerator for Holistic Innovation (PI-RAHI) Foundation, Science & Technology Cluster for the Northern Region organized a seminar on “Artificial intelligence in drug discovery: Applications and challenges”at the Panjab University. The speaker, Dr.Rajnish Kimar from IIT-BHU, Varanasi deliberated on various aspects of artificial intelligence and its applications at different stages of the drug development pipeline. He highlighted the advantages AI in terms of saving time and costs compared to traditional methods of drug discovery.
Dr Rajnish also provided hands-on experience to the participants and introduced them practically with various AI based platforms in drug development like AnimalGAN, DeepDILI, DeepCarc, skin Doctor CP. The zest and fervour of the audience was evident in intense engagement of the audience faculty members along with active involvement of students and research scholars during the discussion session with Dr.Rajnish. The seminar was attended by faculty members and students from various departments of Panjab University. Prof. Rajat Sandhir, from the department of Biochemistry introduced the audience to PU-RAHI program as a collaborative program between Panjab University and IIT Ropar sanctioned by the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor, Govt. of India. He emphasized that artificial intelligence due to its potential for good of mankind has been kept as one of the priority areas in this program and this talk has set the stage for further training different types of programs on AI are planned by PI-RAHI foundation.
