Maintaining ‘Active Health Communications’ between countries and agencies can save future generations from global epidemics: Dr. Bali

Chandigarh: The entire world suffering from Covid 19 is currently in dire need of ‘Active Health Communications’ within countries and agencies so that future generations can be saved from such pandemics. These sentiments were expressed by eminent Cardiologist Dr. HK Bali during the ‘PRCI State Level Communication Awards 2021’ organized by Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) Chandigarh Chapter to mark the ‘World Communicators Day’ at SD College, Sector 32. Dr. Bali, who graced the occasion as the chief guest, expressed regret that the corona virus, which originated from tiny Wuhan city in China in November 2019, caused panic all over the world due to lack of communication and put the world in economic grief till date which could have been averted through communication.
During the program, Dr. Bali and Upkar Krishna Sharma, President, SD College Society as Guest of Honour in the presence of Chapter Chairman Vivek Atrey honored PR professionals for their outstanding contribution in Public Relations in the region. Arun Johar was honored with the ‘Veteran Public Relations Practitioner’ award while Punjab University Professor Jayant Pethkar was conferred with ‘Veteran Academics’. Young filmmaker Ojaswee Sharma was honored with the ‘Impactful Communication Award’ for his documentary ‘admitted’ on transgenders. Swati Munjal, Public Relations Officer working in Chandigarh Administration was honored as ‘Government Communication and Young Professional’. ‘Aneesh Bhanot Award of Excellence’, instituted in the memory of well-known late PR professional Aneesh Bhanot was given to Rotary Chandigarh Shivalik for empowering the visually challenged students which was accepted by Club President Rtn Sham Rawal and Past President Rtn Manjit Kaur.
During the program, National Vice President of PRCI CJ Singh, Head of North Region of PRCI and DPR, Punjab University Renuka Salwan, Chapter Secretary Sudeep Rawat, wife of Late Aneesh Bhanot, Shanti Bhanot, Head of Department of Communications Priya Chadha were also present.
Earlier PRCI formed the Young Communicators Club (YCC) with a view to strengthen the industry-academia partnership along with communication skill development among college youth. The agreement was signed by Chapter Chairman Vivek Atrey and College Principal Dr Ajay Sharma.
CJ Singh informed that after Punjab University, Shoolini University, Rayat and Bahra University, MCMDAV College, this is the fifth formation of YCC in SD College, under which lectures, workshops related to communication will be organized for the students to help in their career.
Earlier, Renuka Salwan apprised the delegates about PRCI and briefed that the nationwide PRCI will help the youth to face the challenges in their future through YCC.
Janhvi Bhandari has been given the responsibility of President while Prabhsimar Singh has been given the responsibility of General Secretary for YCC constituted in their college.
