BJP Chandigarh welcomes GoM proposal for zero-rate GST on Health & Life Insurance — another clear example of ModiNomics giving back to the people
BJP Chandigarh warmly welcomes the Group of Ministers’ (GoM) proposal to exempt GST on individual health and life insurance premiums. This bold step—awaiting GST Council approval—furthers the Modi Government’s consistent focus on returning money to citizens, not extracting more.
“While previous governments looked for ways to take more, the Narendra Modi Government finds ways to give back. This proposal will make essential protection more affordable for every Indian family,” said Dr Dharinder Tayal, Chief Spokesperson, BJP Chandigarh.
The “Give Back” record and key relief measures come at a huge fiscal cost, which the government is absorbing. The Budget ’25 Income Tax Bonanza with zero tax upto ₹12 lakh is estimated at ₹1 lakh crore in direct-tax relief.
Similarly, the Independence Day announcement of the Diwali gift GST Rationalisation will be an estimated revenue forego of about ₹1.1 lakh crore annually.
The current announcement of the proposed GST waiver on Life & Health Insurance premiums indicates about ₹9,700 crore revenue impact—a direct saving for policyholders once approved.
Total direct ‘give back’ from just the three schemes above amounts to ₹2.3 lakh crore put back into the pockets of the middle class, farmers, and MSMEs.
“ModiNomics is about empathy with execution—structural reforms that support growth, along with targeted relief for households and small businesses,” the spokesperson added.
