Administers Mass Pledge  under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

Chandigarh, 14th August 2024 – In a decisive move towards a drug-free society, the Department of Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administration, under the directives of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, successfully launched a mass pledge campaign as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

Shri. Rajeev Verma, Adviser to the Administrator, led the campaign by administering the pledge at the UT Secretariat today. The solemn event saw the participation of approximately 250 officials, all of whom demonstrated a strong collective commitment to the cause of eradicating substance abuse from society.

In a show of unity, all departments of the Chandigarh Administration participated in the pledge, resonating a shared resolve throughout the city. Over the last three days, the Administration has organized a series of programs across educational institutions, police stations, Anganwadi centers, and various other departments. These initiatives engaged citizens through a variety of activities, including nukkad nataks (street plays), rallies, and widespread awareness campaigns, successfully reaching nearly 1 lakh residents of Chandigarh

As the nation celebrates its 77th Independence Day, it is noteworthy that the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan has now entered its fourth year of unwavering efforts. The impact of the campaign has been substantial, with this year’s initiatives further solidifying the commitment to creating a healthier and drug-free community. The Chandigarh Administration remains dedicated to continuing these efforts, building on the momentum generated by these significant events.
