Chandigarh, 15th September 2021: The first meeting of the District Level Implementation Committee(DLIC) was held under the Chairmanship of Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner -cum- Labour Commissioner Chandigarh. The meeting was attended by officers from various departments and Trade Union representatives.

In the meeting all the participants were made aware about the recently launched National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW) project of the Ministry of Labour, Govt. of India under which any worker working in the unorganised sector aged between 16-59 years can register himself/herself free of cost on the portal www.eshram.gov.in or by visiting the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC).

Upon successful registration under the scheme all the workers would be automatically entitled to a pension of ₹2 Lakhs in case of Death/ Permanent Disability and ₹1 Lakh in case of Partial Disability.

All the workers working in the unorganised sector such as migrant workers, construction workers, self-employed workers, home based workers, domestic helps, agricultural workers, steet vendors, mandi workers, workers working on online platforms, anganwadi workers, mid-day meal workers, asha workers etc. and all workers in the organised sector who’re not subscribers of EPFO, ESIC and who are not Income-Tax payees are eligible for registration under the scheme.

Registration under the scheme is simple Aadhar based process in which a workers Aadhar, Mobile Number and Bank details are only required.

The meeting ended with an appeal by the Deputy Commissioner to all the participants to create awareness amongst the masses about the scheme so that maximum number of workers in the unorganised sector can get themselves registered under this scheme and become eligible to avail the benefits under various social welfare schemes of the Govt. of India and UT Administration in future.
