International Day of Yoga celebrated at HWC-49
The seventh International Day of Yoga was celebrated at Health and Wellness Centre, Sector 49 under the guidance of Dr. Madhu Gupta, Faculty In-Charge, Department of Community medicine and School of Public Health. The theme for the day was “Yoga for Wellness”. The Yoga event was organised by Dr. Nikita (SR), Dr. Jenefa (JR) and Mrs. Rupinder Kaur (Yoga Instructor). A hour long yoga session was organised for the staff and public. The yoga instructor demonstrated various yoga asanas and explained their health benefits. Many Asanas viz. Vajrasana, Tadasana, Vrikshasana for improving concentration; Anulom vilom, Pranayama, Ushtrasana, Matsyasana for improving lung capacity; Shashankasan, Shavasana, Makarsana for reducing blood pressure were practised by the participants. The general public and staff members including doctors, nurse and ANMs participated in the event with COVID precautions. The OPD patients are informed about Yoga and its benefits and were motivated to participate in Yoga sessions regularly.
