Vaartalap in Shimla Highlights Healthcare, Education, and Media: ADC Advocates Stakeholder Involvement to improve service delivery

Shimla, November 8, 2023 – A thought-provoking Vaartalap held in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, brought together prominent leaders and resource persons to shed light on vital aspects of health, education, and media. The event, chaired by Shri Rajinder Chaudhry, Additional Director General of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Chandigarh, featured Shri Abhishek Verma, ADC Shimla, as the chief guest and fostered a wealth of insights and discussions.
The event commenced with a focus on the importance of the new education policy. Shri Rajinder Chaudhry expressed, “The new education policy is a crucial step towards transforming India’s education landscape. It necessitates concerted efforts from all stakeholders to ensure its effective implementation.”
ADG Rajinder Chaudhry stressed the importance of media coordination in improving the efficiency and delivery of government services. He noted, “Efficient media coordination plays a vital role in ensuring that government services are delivered effectively and transparently. Media serves as a bridge between the government and the public, and it must be leveraged to its full potential.”
Shri Abhishek Verma, ADC Shimla, added a crucial dimension by highlighting the paramount importance of collaboration among stakeholders. He emphasized, “In both healthcare and education, it is imperative that all stakeholders stand together, vigilantly ensuring that our citizens receive the best services possible.”
Shri Ratan Singh Verma, Principal, shared insights on the government’s initiatives related to the implementation of the new education policy, emphasizing the significant increase in vocationalization in schools. He stated that this initiative has significantly improved the employability of the region’s youth.
Smt Indira Pundir, a key figure in the health sector, discussed the Ayushmann Bharat, Mukhyamantri Sahara Yojana, and introduced various helplines, including the Janani Express at 102, 104 for addiction-related and other medical concerns, and the medical emergency helpline 108.
A significant discussion during the Vaartalap was the forthcoming launch of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, an initiative of the government set to commence on November 15, 2023, covering three tribal districts in its first phase, including Chamba, Kinnaur, and Spiti in Himachal Pradesh.
DPRO Shimla, Sh. Simpal Saklani, in his discussion on new-age media, emphasized the need for fact-checking and responsible information dissemination, particularly on social media. He underscored the critical role of the media in promoting truth and transparency.
Additionally, ADC Abhishek Verma spoke about the Vidyanjali scheme, an initiative taken by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, with the aim to strengthen schools through community and private sector involvement in schools across the country.
