Chandigarh, July 5:- K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh today directed the engineers of public health wing, MCC to identify points where water accumulates during heavy rain regularly and asked them to depute one person at each point immediate after rain.
He asked the officers to check the cleaning process of road gullies regularly and specially during rain to avoid chocking and accumulation of water there. He directed the flood control team leaders of different areas to visit each and every point before rain to check its proper cleaning and lifting of malba from there.
The Commissioner further directed the officers to ensure that water accumulated in low line areas be drained out on daily basis especially the areas wherever the logging of water can occur due to engineering works activities being undertaken. He said that in view of the rainy season, this would help in avoiding mosquito breeding leading to Malaria/dengue and chikungunya during monsoon and will also ensure the safe health of the residents of Chandigarh.
