Chandigarh, Shri Surinder Verma, Chairman of the Citizen Awareness Group and Editor-in-Chief of Mirrorrr 365 and Chandigarh Today was honoured with the prestigious Disha Iconic Award – 2026 in recognition of his exemplary contribution to social service and his sustained efforts towards the welfare and betterment of society.
The award was presented to Shri Verma by Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Kavinder Gupta in the presence of Shri Avinash Rai Khanna, former Member of Parliament, at a special ceremony held at Hotel Radisson Red, Mohali.
The honour recognises Verma’s long-standing commitment to social causes and his efforts to create greater awareness on issues concerning the community. Through the Citizen Awareness Group and his association with the media, Verma has consistently worked towards highlighting matters of public interest, promoting social responsibility and encouraging citizens to contribute meaningfully towards the development of society.
Speaking on the occasion, Verma expressed his gratitude to the organisers for recognising his work. He said that the honour was not merely a personal achievement but also an encouragement to continue working with greater commitment towards social welfare and public awareness.
In his remarks, the Governor emphasized that such recognition serves as an encouragement for others to come forward, take responsibility and work towards creating a more aware, responsible and progressive society.”
