BJP Bulldozes V3 Roads Agenda by Force, AAP & Congress Call It Murder of Democracy

Chaos erupted in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation today as Agenda No. 6 related to V3 roads was passed in a completely illegal and undemocratic manner. Opposition councillors from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress were forcibly thrown out of the House while they demanded a fair discussion, some conditions, and proper voting. Taking advantage of their absence, the BJP Mayor and the Municipal Commissioner rushed through a vote and declared the agenda passed.

Both parties have jointly submitted a formal complaint to the Secretary of the Municipal Corporation, demanding that the decision be nullified immediately and that live footage of the meeting be reviewed to expose the truth.

AAP Chandigarh President Vijaypal Singh said:
“This is a black day for democracy in Chandigarh. Elected representatives were silenced, manhandled, and removed from the House to bulldoze BJP’s agenda. Such unconstitutional actions will not be tolerated.”

AAP General Secretary Omkar Singh Aulakh added:
“The House belongs to all elected councillors, not a single party. Forcibly removing opposition voices shows BJP’s dictatorial mindset. We will not allow democracy to be crushed.”

AAP Chandigarh State Media In-Charge Vikrant A Tanwar stated:
“The construction of V3 roads may benefit external vehicles, but the immediate priority should be the re-carpeting of V6 roads (internal sector roads inside residential areas, connecting colonies and houses), which directly benefits the residents of Chandigarh. Today, by throwing councillors out of the House, BJP sidelined the real issues of the people and turned the Municipal Corporation into a hub of unilateral decisions. This move goes against public priorities and proves that BJP is more focused on imposing its political agenda than solving city residents’ problems.”

The Aam Aadmi Party further stated that the Administration should act as a guardian and supporter of the Municipal Corporation by providing adequate funds to ensure Chandigarh’s development. Instead, BJP’s intent is to weaken elected representatives, silence the opposition, and ultimately dismantle the autonomy of the Municipal Corporation. Lack of funds should never be an excuse to abolish an elected institution just as a homeowner who cannot afford whitewashing does not sell his house, the solution is funding and support, not the demolition of democracy.

Both AAP and Congress leaders vowed to intensify their protests and fight against this political hooliganism inside a democratic institution.
