Chandigarh, 1st, October ,2024 – In an inspiring initiative aimed at promoting the life-saving act of blood donation and advocating respect, kindness, and empathy toward senior citizens, the Chandigarh Administration organized a mass pledge ceremony at the UT Secretariat Building. Around 250 officials from various departments came together to take part in this significant event, led by Shri Mandeep Singh Brar, Home Secretary, Chandigarh Administration.

The first pledge centered around the importance of voluntary blood donation, which remains a crucial public health effort to ensure a steady supply of blood for medical emergencies, surgeries, and patients requiring life-saving transfusions. The Home Secretary, along with the attending officials, took an oath to not only donate blood themselves but also to encourage others to participate in this noble cause.

The second pledge focused on treating senior citizens with kindness, empathy, and respect. This reflects the administration’s recognition of the valuable contributions senior citizens have made throughout their lives. The pledge underscored the need to protect and honor the elderly, ensuring that they are treated with the dignity and care they deserve.

The pledge reaffirmed the responsibility of society to stand by the elderly, offering them physical, emotional, and social support.
