PGI hosts 4th National Conference AIOACON 2024
Announces First ever City-Branch of Ophthalmic Anaesthesia in Chandigarh
Department of Anaesthesia & Intensive Care, PGIMER Chandigarh organized three days National Conference on Ophthalmic Anaesthesia (AIOACON 2024) . Prof Vivek Lal , Director PGIMER, Chandigarh inaugurated the scientific proceedings. Talking about perioperative care of small babies, he emphasized that these patients require expertise and there is no scope for any error. Organizing Secretary , Dr Tanvir Samra shared that 160 anaesthesiologists came from all over India to participate in this event. Prof Vikas Saini, told that scientific programme was crafted to cover various challenges faced by anaesthesiologists and eye surgeons. Three workshops were also conducted where participants learned about basic anatomy, intricacies of ophthalmic Anaesthesia and management of challenging cases.
Prof Indu Sen , President of Association of Indian Ophthalmic Anaesthesiologists, Dr Jai Chandran, Secretary of the association shared that number of AIOA members has increased from 98 to 164 in the year 2024. Hence, first ever City Branch of the association will be started from Chandigarh City. Other highlights were a talk by Dr Venkat Raja, President World Congress of Ophthalmic Anaesthesia and by the experts from Birmingham, Philadelphia and Switzerland.
