“Promoting Health and Well-Being Through Community Initiatives!”

U.T. Chandigarh, September 23, 2024: The department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Welfare, UT Chandigarh Administration organised the following activities:-
1. Webinar on Traditional Food for Health Promotion: A comprehensive webinar was held in the Industrial Area, highlighting the importance of traditional food practices in enhancing health. Experts discussed various traditional foods, their nutritional benefits, and their role in promoting overall well-being.
2. Youth Group Meeting: Sahi Poshan Desh Roshan: A vibrant youth group meeting took place at the Composite Building in Daddu Majra, focusing on the theme “Sahi Poshan Desh Roshan.” The gathering aimed to inspire young individuals to take proactive steps in promoting nutrition and health within their communities.
3. Lecture on Rain Water Harvesting: In an effort to educate the community about sustainable practices, a lecture on rainwater harvesting was organized at RC Dhanas-I. Participants learned about the significance of conserving water and the practical methods of harvesting rainwater to support environmental sustainability.
4. Educational Workshops: Additional workshops were conducted covering essential health topics such as breastfeeding posture, diarrhea management, menstrual hygiene, and the integration of AYUSH practices into daily life. These sessions empowered participants with vital knowledge to improve their health outcomes.
5. Engaging Youth Across 450 Anganwadi Centers: Youth group meetings were organized at all 450 Anganwadi Centers, encouraging active participation and fostering a sense of community. Young individuals were motivated to engage in health promotion activities, reinforcing the importance of their role in community wellness.
6. Comprehensive Home Visits: In a dedicated effort to support vulnerable populations, comprehensive home visits were conducted for children identified as Severely Acute Malnourished (SAM) and Moderately Acute Malnourished (MAM), as well as for pregnant women. These visits ensured that families received necessary support and guidance, especially in preparation for childbirth.
