Marking India’s 75th Republic Day, Pawan Bansal, senior Congress leader, extended his heartfelt wishes to Chandigarh and the entire nation. He highlighted that although India gained independence in 1947, it wasn’t until January 26, 1950, with the adoption of its constitution, that the country truly became sovereign. Emphasizing the constitutional foundation, Bansal underscored the paramount importance of the constitution as the supreme law of the land.

Bansal urged citizens to reflect on the essence of the constitution as the bedrock of the nation’s sentiments. He underscored that alongside celebrating nationalism, strengthening constitutionalism is imperative for genuine progress. Bansal articulated, “If the constitution is not adhered to in this country, genuine progress is unattainable.”

Taking the occasion to encourage fellow citizens, Pawan Bansal calls for a collective commitment to reinforcing the principles outlined in the constitution. He asserted that there should be no compromise on constitutional values anywhere in the nation. This responsibility, he emphasizes, lies with the citizens, urging everyone to unite for the preservation and adherence to the constitution.
