BISHOP GILBERT REGO MEMORIAL INTER SCHOOL I.T. CARNIVAL

St. Anne’s Convent School, Sector 32, Chandigarh organized Bishop Gilbert Rego Memorial Inter-school IT carnival on 19 November, 2022, in memory of late Bishop Gilbert Rego, a true champion, vibrant pastor and a fatherly figure. He dedicated his life for the cause of humanism. One of his landmark contributions was establishing St. Anne’s Convent School.

The occasion was graced by Most Rev. Dr. Ignatius. L. Mascarenhas, Bishop of Simla-Chandigarh Diocese. The School Manager Rev. Fr. Ambrose D’Souza and the School Principal Sr. Jessy Augustine honoured the chief guest. The chief guest was first welcomed with the spectacular performance by the school band and then the programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and invocation of the divine presence with a prayer dance and welcome song. The function started with a soulful introduction to our late Bishop Gilbert .B. Rego and a motivational speech by Most Rev. Dr. Ignatius. L. Mascarenhas.

The event witnessed the participation from 17 schools of tricity partaking with the unsurpassed spirit in the competitions like Cyber Design – MS Paint competition and MS Word Comic Strip Making competition, Cyber Media- Presentation competition, Cyber Promo-Vlog Creating competition, I.T. Quiz etc. The theme was based on UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 – GENDER EQUALITY including the sub themes for various competitions like ‘Why only women?: Household chores and children’, ‘Gender Equality today for a sustainable tomorrow’, ‘Balanced participation of women and men in decision making’, ‘Gender Equality- A necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world’ etc. The discrete judges from renowned educational institutions of tricity were invited to judge the best talent.

The school manager Rev. Fr. Ambrose motivated the students by emphasizing the importance of Information Technology in today’s world and felicitated the judges with mementos and presented the prizes to the winners of all competitions. Carmel Convent School won the overall trophy.
