Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Chandigarh, has launched the ‘GEN-Z IN POLITICS’ campaign with the objective of bringing the younger generation into the mainstream of politics and making them active participants in the decision-making process. The special campaign was inaugurated by Jarnail Singh, AAP’s Chandigarh In-charge and MLA from Delhi.

Through this initiative, young people will be encouraged not only to join politics but also to take on leadership responsibilities and ensure their active participation in electoral politics.

Addressing the media during a press conference, Jarnail Singh said that despite young people constituting a significant proportion of the country’s population, their representation in Parliament, Legislative Assemblies and local bodies remains relatively low. Increasing the participation of the younger generation in politics and providing them with opportunities to express their thoughts, ideas and suggestions is the need of the hour.

He said that youth participation in politics is an important responsibility towards democracy. If democracy is to be protected, young people must come forward and actively participate in this initiative to safeguard the democratic system of the country. The Aam Aadmi Party is working to take this mission forward.

Under the campaign, young people in Chandigarh will be provided with a platform to express their views on the city’s basic civic issues, development works, education, employment and other matters of public interest. They will also be encouraged to take up organisational responsibilities, develop leadership skills and prepare themselves to contest elections in the future.

To connect young people with this initiative, the party has launched a dedicated mobile number 7065087185. Interested youth can join the campaign by giving a missed call to this number. The party has also launched its website: www.gengpolitics.com.

Along with Jarnail Singh, party leaders Prem Garg, Deepa Dubey, Yogesh Dhingra, Omkar Singh Aulakh and Devak Soni also appealed to young people to join this initiative and play an active role in the development of the city.

The Aam Aadmi Party stated that ‘GEN-Z IN POLITICS’ is not merely a membership drive, but an initiative aimed at bringing generational change in politics. The party’s objective is to transform young people from spectators into leaders, enabling their energy, modern outlook and fresh ideas to give a new direction to Chandigarh’s political landscape.
