Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over War Room meeting. The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator at Punjab Raj Bhawan. Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, UT & Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services & Director Principal, GMCH attended through Video Conferencing.
WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS
1. Director, PGIMER stated that they have 150 covid patients in Nehru Extension Block, out of which 50 belong to Chandigarh, 62 belong to Punjab, 15 belong to Haryana, 13 belong to Himachal Pradesh & 10 from other states. He also mentioned that PGIMER have tested 526 covid samples, out of which 39 were found positive. Among the positive cases, 25 belong to Chandigarh. Director, PGIMER also stated that they are conducting trial of vaccine and so far 65 volunteers have already been vaccinated on experimental basis. The PGIMER doctors also appealed to the citizens with covid symptoms not to take steroids too early without medical prescription. Director Principal, GMCH stated that they have tested 445 covid samples, out of which 58 were found positive. He also mentioned that only 1,189 Dengue cases have been found this year as against 3,803 of last year. Dr. Amandeep Kang, Director Health Services stated that they have tested 525 covid samples, out of which 40 were found positive.
2. Deputy Commissioner, Mohali stated that they have 1,227 active cases, Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula stated that they have 479 active cases and Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh stated that they have 1,448 active cases.
3. The Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT expressed happiness about the declining number of covid positive cases. However, he directed the officials to increase the number of tests. He specifically desired that vendors coming from Sector 26 Market should be tested regularly.
4. The Administrator directed that the proposal for a second medical college with at least 50 MBBS seats, which has already been sent, needs to be expedited. Adviser, Sh. Manoj Parida stated that he will take up this matter with Medical Council of India at the earliest.
5. The Administrator directed Secretary Education to hold talks with the parents regarding physical attendance of students of higher classes in the schools. A final decision will be taken after necessary consultation with Central Government.
6. 66,731 Digital Health Cards have been registered and 5,33,844 Aarogya Setu Applications have been downloaded in the city.
