Dr.Pankaj Kaul keeps his Promise & donates Blood even on his Superannuation at PGIMER
A voluntary blood donor for 106 times, Dr.Pankaj Kaul, Technical Assistant cum officiating Lecturer, superannuated on 30th Sept.2020 and has made a landmark decision for not accepting any farewell in view of Corona Pandemic.
Dr. Kaul instead planted a tree in PGIMER premises and donated blood voluntarily 106th time, to give a humble adieu to the institute, with the kind approval of Director, PGIMER, where he spent more than 34 years of his youth.
He joined PGIMER in 1983 for doing Graduation in Medical Laboratory Sciences. His quest to learn more qualified him for Masters in Medical Lab. Technology Microbiology (Parasitology) as in-service candidate and further upgraded to Doctorate degree.
After Ph.D, he kept his academic and Continuing Professional Development activities going on. He obtained Fellowship and got Chartered Scientist status of Institute of Biomedical Science, London, U.K in recognition to his ability to demonstrate the advancement for application of science and having complete knowledge of biomedical science, through which he could avail awards of single Overseas Research Grants of the said Institute in London, U.K, for his research projects. He was awarded such a Research grant four times through global competition.
Dr.Kaul has attended several National Conferences and a few World Conferences including Dublin, Ireland and at Berlin, Germany. He organized few workshops in Histopathology and released a “Workbook of Immuno histochemistry”, and a “Work Manual of Histopathology Techniques”, which is an ideal manual for IHC and a compilation of Standard Operating Procedure of Histopathological techniques. He organized several Conferences of Medical lab. Technology in PGI and its adjoining Institutes to promote Biomedical Lab. Sciences.
Dr.Kaul has pledged his body, organs and eyes to PGIMER and last but not the least; he is the only voluntary blood donor, alumnus of the institute with 106 donations up his sleeves.
