WORLD HEALTH DAY CELEBRATION ON 7TH APRIL, 2025.

Theme- Healthy beginning, Hopeful Future

World Health Day 2025 was celebrated by Local Branch of Indian Public Health Association(IPHA), Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh in collaboration with National Institute of Nursing Education(NINE), PGIMER, Chandigarh on the theme ‘Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures’ on 7th April, 2025 from 2.00 PM to 5.00 PM. Dr Sukhpal Kaur, Principal, NINE formally welcomed the GuestS, speakers and participants. The Event was inaugurated by Prof. Vivek Lal, DPGI, Chandigarh. He emphasized that it is the duty of Health Professionals to ensure and protect the Health rights of mothers and children. Dr. Suman Singh, DHS, UT Chandigarh in her address emphasized the government initiatives in Mother and Child health in Chandigarh. While unfolding the theme, Prof. J. S. Thakur, Vice President, IPHA local Branch PGIMER, Chandigarh highlighted the efforts of GOI towards achieving the goals related to maternal and child health.

The panelists discussed the different aspects of the theme. Prof. Praveen Kumar, Head, Department of Neonatology, PGI, Chandigarh highlighted the strategies for promoting newborn health and prevention of neonatal morbidity and mortality. Prof. Shalini Gainder, Department of Obstetric and Gynecology, PGI, Chandigarh highlighted key strategies to improve women’s long term thealth and wellbeing. Prof. Shubhmohan Singh, Department of Psychiatry, PGI discussed on the mental health issue of mothers and children. Dr. Manjeet ingh, District Family Welfare Officr, Sector 16, Chandigarh highlighted key initiatives for promoting maternal and child health in Chandigarh. Dr. Sushma Kumari Saini, Associate Professor, NINE, PGI discussed respectful maternity care. Prof. J. S Thakur moderated the Panel Discussion Approximately 170 participants from Different departments of PGIMER, Chandigarh attended the program. Programme concluded with concluding , NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh.
