GLOBAL EXPERTS DISCUSS GEOPOLITICAL IMPLICATIONS OF INTERNATIONAL INTERVENTION IN SUBCONTINENT RELATIONS

Western Command Army Headquarters, in close collaboration with the leading independent strategic affairs think tank “Synergia Foundation”, successfully conducted a Symposium on “Role of Global and Regional Powers in Indo-Pak Relations: Strategic Perspective & Geopolitical Implications” at Chandimandir Military Station yesterday. The symposium aimed to discuss the intricate dynamics and implications of international involvement in subcontinent relations.
This global participation added depth and diversity to the discussions, providing a comprehensive understanding of the intricate geopolitical landscape. The event brought together a distinguished panel of experts, including former diplomats, scholars, senior veteran officers, and policymakers from around the globe. Notably, the symposium featured international-level experts, including Dr. Vasily Kashin from Russia, Mr. Tim Willasey-Wilsey from the UK, Admiral Jayanth from Sri Lanka, Ambassador Ahmed Almanaimuni from Saudi Arabia, and Dr. Doron Shalom Avital from Israel, who shared their valuable insights via video conference.
The symposium also featured esteemed Indian experts, including Mr. Tobby Simon, Founder & President, Synergia Foundation, who delivered the opening remarks. Mr. MK Narayanan, Former National Security Advisor & Former Governor, West Bengal, delivered the keynote address, setting the tone for the event. Other notable speakers included Ambassador Ranjan Mathai, Former Foreign Secretary, Ambassador A R Ghanashyam, Former Diplomat, Lt Gen P S Minhas (Retd), Maj Gen Neeraj Bali, SM (Retd), Mr. Rajiv Jain, Former Director, Intelligence Bureau, Prof Varaprasad S Dolla, Jawaharlal Nehru University and Mr. Tilak Devasher, Member National Security Advisory Board & Former Special Secretary Cabinet Secretariat. The discussions were moderated by Lt Gen GAV Reddy (Retd), Former Director General, Defense Intelligence Agency and Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS).
The symposium was also attended by officers from over 63 military stations along the Western Borders and students of International Relations from Chandigarh University, who engaged in an interesting exchange of questions and ideas.
The Symposium concluded with the remarks of Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, GOC-in-C, Western Command, focusing on the need to develop capabilities in pursuance of retaining strategic autonomy as a Nation. He expressed his gratitude to notable domain experts for making this Symposium instrumental in fostering a deeper understanding of complex interplay between regional conflicts and global politics.
