Union Budget 2025-26 has made Big Allocations for Punjab and Haryana: Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

The Union Railways Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw interacted with the media via video conference today, where he briefed the media on state-specific announcements made for Railways in the Union Budget 2025-2026. The Minister informed that a sum of Rs. 5,421 crores has been made for Punjab and Rs. 3,416 crores for Haryana, which he termed as a record allocation. He said that 30 Amrit stations are being developed in Punjab, at a cost of Rs. 1,122 crores, and that 34 Amrit stations are being developed in Haryana, at a cost of Rs. 1,149 crores.

The Railways Minister informed that with a focus on safety, the Union Budget allocates Rs. 1,16,000 crore rupees for expenditure in this year to augment the safety of Indian Railways through various projects. Work will be undertaken in mission mode on upgradation of old tracks to new tracks, and on KAVACH safety system. The Minister also briefed on the launch of new Vande Bharat trains and Amrit Bharat trains.
