Sanjay Tandon attends Chhath Puja celebrations to seek blessings of Maa Chhathi
Chhath Puja is a symbol of faith, social harmony, and reverence for nature: Sanjay Tandon
Chandigarh:
“Our country’s civilization and culture are not only known for festivals and celebrations of faith but also for inspiring human values. Chhath Puja is one such festival that beautifully reflects devotion, social unity, and the worship of natural elements,” said Sanjay Tandon, National Executive Member of the BJP and Co-incharge of Himachal Pradesh BJP.
He was addressing devotees gathered at the New Lake, Sector 42, Chandigarh, during the Chhath Puja programs organized by various social organizations. He also extended heartfelt greetings to all present on this auspicious occasion.
Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu and Chandigarh BJP President Jitendra Pal Malhotra were also present at the celebration.
The events were organized by Poorvanchal Welfare Association, Manoj Rai, Radhe Shyam, and Poorvanchal Yuva Seva Samiti. On this occasion, the guests were warmly welcomed by the organizers — Chairman Rajinder Singh, President D.K. Singh, Senior Vice President U.K. Singh, General Secretary Bhola Rai, along with Brijeshwar Gupta, Rajan Gupta, and Dhananjay Rai — who honored them with shawls and mementos.
Addressing the gathering, Tandon said that millions of devotees from eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to western parts of the country are celebrating this sacred festival with great enthusiasm this year. “It shows that no matter where we live — in India or abroad — we remain deeply connected to our cultural roots. These festivals also strengthen our bonds with local communities wherever we reside,” he added.
Tandon praised the women observing the four-day-long rigorous Chhath fast, offering prayers to both the setting and rising sun, saying, “Their devotion and discipline are truly admirable — I bow to this divine feminine strength.”
He further said that Chhath Puja has been celebrated with increasing enthusiasm in Chandigarh over the past few years, and every year, organizers invite him to seek the blessings of Maa Chhathi, which he considers a great honor and privilege.
