Poetesses recite poems on road safety to mark World Poetry Day

Chandigarh, To mark the World Poetry Day, the Citizens Awareness Group (CAG) in association with Chandigarh Traffic Police jointly organized a Kavi Sammelan at Gandhi Bhawan, Sector 16. The astonishing feature of this sammelan was all the poems recited by poetesses were themed on road safety which was well applauded by police personnel during the program. A total of thirteen 13 poetesses of Mahila Kavya Manch presented their works in this program which lasted for about two hours. Present on the occasion as Chief Guest, DSP Traffic (Admin) SPS Sondhi praised their creativity emphasized that these inspirational poems should also reach out to the general public.

On this occasion, CAG Chairman Surendra Verma said that the kavi sammelan was organized under the aegis of Road Advocacy Program of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India with the joint efforts of the local police to create awareness among the people about road safety. The stage was conducted by traffic marshal and CAG General Secretary Mohinder Kaur Kataria. The Chief Guest and Surendra Verma honored all the poetesses and traffic cops including Head Constables Jagroop Singh and Pawan Kumar, ASI Bhupinder Singh at the end of the program.
