On 30th July 2024, Sh. Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, IPS, Special DG Border Security Force, Western Command inaugurated a massive plantation drive under the campaign #,d isM+ ekWa ds uke and #Plant4Mother for the current monsoon season along the entire Western borders of the country and also at BSF Campus Lakhnaur to carry forward the vision of Honorable Prime Minister of planting 80 crore trees by September 2024 and 140 Crore trees by March 2025 as a mark of love and respect for one’s own Mother and for protecting and preserving Mother Earth. During the event organized at BSF campus Lakhnaur, Mrs. Ruchira Khurania president BWWA, families and troops planted saplings of various fruit bearing plants.
On the occasion, Sh. Y. B. Khurania, IPS, Special DG BSF Western Command reiterated the importance of Tree plantation for the community and for future generations that shall provide cleaner air to breathe by increasing green cover and also mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. The saplings are being planted every year by BSF in such campaigns during monsoon season to ensure greater survivability. This mega plantation campaign is being organized at all Frontiers up to BOP level from Kashmir to Gujarat, in which kith and kin of the troops are also participating with great zest and fervor with aim to surpass the previous year target of planting 13 lakh saplings. Deserts, creeks and denuded patches are the areas of prominence for this mega plantation drive in order to combat environmental issues like desertification, soil erosion, etc
He also emphasized that BSF has always been committed towards its social responsibilities along with its primary objective of defending the borders of the nation.
