NCERT and GRIID Organise National Workshop on Developing Guidelines for Resource Centres to Strengthen Inclusive Education

Chandigarh, September 23, 2025:
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi, in collaboration with the Government Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities (GRIID), Chandigarh, organised a two-day National Workshop on “Developing Guidelines for Resource Centres to Strengthen Inclusive Education” on 22nd and 23rd September 2025 at GRIID, Sector 31, Chandigarh.

The workshop brought together leading experts from across the country, including Prof. Vinay Kumar Singh, Head of the Department of Education of Groups with Special Needs (DEGSN), NCERT; Dr. Shilpa Manogna, Associate Professor, DEGSN; and Dr. Sumin Prakash, Associate Professor, DEGSN, along with eminent professionals in the field of inclusive education.

Spearheaded by NCERT’s Department of Education of Groups with Special Needs (DEGSN), the initiative aims to design, structure, and implement effective strategies, models, and best practices for Resource Rooms under the Samagra Shiksha programme. The focus is to ensure equitable and meaningful learning opportunities for all learners, especially those with diverse educational needs.

The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana, setting a dignified and inspiring tone for the deliberations.

Among the distinguished dignitaries present were Dr. Ajeet Sidana, Joint Director, GRIID; Prof. Vinay Kumar Singh, HOD, DEGSN; Dr. Shilpa Manogna, Associate Professor, DEGSN; Dr. Sumin Prakash, Associate Professor, DEGSN; Dr. M. Karuppasamy, Coordinator, College of Special Education, GRIID; Dr. Yashvinder Kapil; and Dr. Bibhakar Vishwakarma, Chandigarh.
