Jharkhand’s Foundation Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Punjab Raj Bhavan on Wednesday in the presence of Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Shri Banwari Lal Purohit.
Felicitating the fellow countrymen, especially the people of Jharkhand, on the Foundation Day, the Governor said that India is a beautiful bouquet adorned with different flowers in the form of different states.
He further said that celebrating the foundation days of different states is not just a formal event, but it is “a celebration of the Unity in Diversity” of the India.
Extending greetings on the Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, the Governor said that today is great revolutionary Birsa Munda’s birthday. This day was declared as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in the year 2021. He said that Birsa Munda has a respectable place not only in Jharkhand but also in the hearts of all the countrymen and added that celebrating this day as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas will go a long way towards commemorating the contributions of tribal communities in the nation’s history and culture, besides inspiring the coming generations for preservation of our cultural heritage and national pride.
Later, while describing the importance of unity in diversity, the Governor said that despite much diversity in the country, the whole of India is threaded by the string of unity. The differences and diversities are just exterior, but the inexhaustible stream of unity flows within the hearts of Indians.
On this occasion, a cultural progam of folk songs and dances of the State of Jharkhand was presented by the students of Government College for Women, Sector 11, Chandigarh. An audio-video message of Governor of Jharkhand was also telecasted.
Prominent people present on the occasion included Mr. Anup Gupta, Mayor, Chandigarh, Mr. K. Siva Prasad IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor, Punjab, Mr. Nitin Kumar Yadav, Home Secretary, UT, Chandigarh, Mr. Praveer Ranjan, DGP, UT, Chandigarh, senior Civil and Police Officers of Punjab & Chandigarh and about 200 natives of Jharkhand settled in Chandigarh.
