Chandigarh,14th,March 2024.Chandigarh Administration reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing social infrastructure by inaugurating a new Girls’ Hostel Block at the Post Graduate Government College, Sector 42, Chandigarh. The inauguration was done by  Sh. Banwarilal Purohit, Governor of Punjab & Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh, along with esteemed dignitaries including Smt. The newly constructed Hostel Block, spanning over 1,14,230 Sq. ft., represents a significant investment of Rs. 19.49 Crore. Comprising a ground floor and three upper floors, the hostel boasts modern amenities to accommodate 364 students, including 68 rooms, 62 dormitories, and various facilities such as a Warden house, research scholar rooms, activity room, meditation room, and cyber café, among others.

In addition to meeting current needs, the hostel has been designed with foresight, allowing for the addition of two more storeys in the future to accommodate an additional 200 students as per requirements. This initiative aims to alleviate the shortage of hostel facilities for girls in the region, providing a conducive environment for pursuing higher education.
