Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria, today graced the Teacher’s Day celebrations organized by Sanyukt Shikshak Sangh as the Chief Guest. Extending warm greetings to the teaching fraternity, he paid tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is celebrated as Teacher’s Day, and said that this day is not just an occasion to honor educators but also a reminder of their pivotal role in shaping the future of the nation.
In a significant move, the Administrator announced to the Conveyed Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) Immediately
for the promotion of Lecturers to Principals, and on the very same day, the official letter was issued following his directions.
He further declared the setting up of a dedicated committee to address all issues of teachers, ensuring that every grievance is taken up promptly and resolved at the earliest.
Joint Teacher Association President and his team handed over a cheque of ₹5,00,001 (Five Lakh One Rupees) in the name of the Indian Red Cross Society, Chandigarh to the Hon’ble Governor, as assistance for the flood-affected families of Punjab.
The Governor highlighted that teachers are not merely providers of knowledge but the true architects of national character. He remarked that a teacher’s greatest reward is not a title or recognition, but the success of his or her student. Emphasizing the thought “Yatha Shikshak Tatha Rashtra” (As the teacher, so the nation), he said that if teachers are empowered and inspiring, the students will be strong, and if the students are strong, the nation will definitely become great.
Quoting Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the Governor said that “a teacher has to create a lifelong autonomous learner,” stressing that the goal of education should be to prepare students who keep learning, innovating and expanding their abilities throughout their lives, and eventually become reformers of society and builders of the nation.
He lauded the organization for not only safeguarding the rights of teachers but also contributing to social causes, recalling its recent initiative of extending financial support to flood-affected families in Punjab. He noted that through its transparent and collective approach, the organization has been working with the vision of “teacher to society,” thereby prioritizing not only the welfare of teachers but also that of students and the larger community.
Reflecting on the present education system, the Governor spoke about the need to bridge the gap between rural and urban education and to ensure that every child gets equal opportunities to learn in this digital age. He stressed that the true measure of quality education is not limited to textbooks and examination scores, but lies in developing creativity, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking among students.
He called for greater focus on value-based education, reminding that education is not only about securing jobs but about building responsible, sensitive, and ethical citizens. He added that in today’s era of technological transformation, it is essential to prepare students for new fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, data science and innovation. He further emphasized that teachers themselves must be continuously trained, motivated, and respected so that they can guide the youth with renewed energy and confidence.
In conclusion, Sh. Kataria underlined that India is moving towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 where education will play the most crucial role. He said that teachers are the guiding light in this journey, and it is their responsibility to nurture students who are self-reliant, innovative and socially responsible. He urged everyone to collectively pledge to make India a developed, prosperous, and value-driven nation by 2047.

पंजाब के राज्यपाल एवं केंद्र शासित प्रदेश चंडीगढ़ के प्रशासक, श्री गुलाब चंद कटारिया ने आज संयुक्त शिक्षक संघ द्वारा आयोजित शिक्षक दिवस समारोह में मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में शिरकत की। शिक्षक समुदाय को हार्दिक बधाई देते हुए, उन्होंने डॉ. सर्वपल्ली राधाकृष्णन, जिनकी जयंती शिक्षक दिवस के रूप में मनाई जाती है, को श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की और कहा कि यह दिन न केवल शिक्षकों के सम्मान का अवसर है, बल्कि राष्ट्र के भविष्य को आकार देने में उनकी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका की याद भी दिलाता है।
एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम उठाते हुए, प्रशासक ने व्याख्याताओं की प्रधानाचार्य के पद पर पदोन्नति हेतु विभागीय पदोन्नति समिति (डीपीसी) की तत्काल सूचना दी और उसी दिन, उनके निर्देशों के बाद आधिकारिक पत्र जारी कर दिया गया।
उन्होंने शिक्षकों की सभी समस्याओं के समाधान हेतु एक समर्पित समिति के गठन की भी घोषणा की, ताकि यह सुनिश्चित किया जा सके कि प्रत्येक शिकायत का शीघ्र समाधान किया जाए।
संयुक्त शिक्षक संघ के अध्यक्ष और उनकी टीम ने पंजाब के बाढ़ प्रभावित परिवारों की सहायता के लिए भारतीय रेड क्रॉस सोसाइटी, चंडीगढ़ के नाम से माननीय राज्यपाल को ₹5,00,001 (पाँच लाख एक रुपये) का चेक सौंपा।
राज्यपाल ने इस बात पर प्रकाश डाला कि शिक्षक केवल ज्ञान के प्रदाता ही नहीं, बल्कि राष्ट्रीय चरित्र के सच्चे निर्माता भी हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि एक शिक्षक का सबसे बड़ा पुरस्कार कोई उपाधि या सम्मान नहीं, बल्कि उसके छात्र की सफलता है। “यथा शिक्षक तथा राष्ट्र” (जैसा शिक्षक, वैसा राष्ट्र) के विचार पर बल देते हुए, उन्होंने कहा कि यदि शिक्षक सशक्त और प्रेरक होंगे, तो छात्र सशक्त होंगे और यदि छात्र सशक्त होंगे, तो राष्ट्र निश्चित रूप से महान बनेगा।
डॉ. ए.पी.जे. अब्दुल कलाम को श्रद्धांजलि देते हुए राज्यपाल ने कहा कि “एक शिक्षक को आजीवन स्वायत्त शिक्षार्थी तैयार करना होता है,” और इस बात पर ज़ोर दिया कि शिक्षा का लक्ष्य ऐसे छात्रों को तैयार करना होना चाहिए जो जीवन भर सीखते रहें, नवाचार करते रहें और अपनी क्षमताओं का विस्तार करते रहें, और अंततः समाज के सुधारक और राष्ट्र निर्माता बनें।
उन्होंने न केवल शिक्षकों के अधिकारों की रक्षा करने, बल्कि सामाजिक कार्यों में योगदान देने के लिए भी संगठन की सराहना की, और पंजाब में बाढ़ प्रभावित परिवारों को वित्तीय सहायता प्रदान करने की इसकी हालिया पहल का उल्लेख किया। उन्होंने कहा कि अपने पारदर्शी और सामूहिक दृष्टिकोण के माध्यम से, संगठन “शिक्षक से समाज” के दृष्टिकोण के साथ काम कर रहा है, जिससे न केवल शिक्षकों के कल्याण को बल्कि छात्रों और व्यापक समुदाय के कल्याण को भी प्राथमिकता दी जा रही है।
वर्तमान शिक्षा प्रणाली पर विचार करते हुए, राज्यपाल ने ग्रामीण और शहरी शिक्षा के बीच की खाई को पाटने और इस डिजिटल युग में प्रत्येक बच्चे को सीखने के समान अवसर सुनिश्चित करने की आवश्यकता पर बल दिया। उन्होंने इस बात पर ज़ोर दिया कि गुणवत्तापूर्ण शिक्षा का सही मापदंड केवल पाठ्यपुस्तकों और परीक्षा के अंकों तक सीमित नहीं है, बल्कि छात्रों में रचनात्मकता, समस्या-समाधान कौशल और आलोचनात्मक सोच विकसित करने में निहित है।
उन्होंने मूल्य-आधारित शिक्षा पर अधिक ध्यान केंद्रित करने का आह्वान किया और याद दिलाया कि शिक्षा का उद्देश्य केवल नौकरी पाना ही नहीं, बल्कि ज़िम्मेदार, संवेदनशील और नैतिक नागरिक बनाना भी है। उन्होंने आगे कहा कि आज के तकनीकी परिवर्तन के युग में, छात्रों को कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता, रोबोटिक्स, डेटा विज्ञान और नवाचार जैसे नए क्षेत्रों के लिए तैयार करना आवश्यक है। उन्होंने इस बात पर भी ज़ोर दिया कि शिक्षकों को निरंतर प्रशिक्षित, प्रेरित और सम्मानित किया जाना चाहिए ताकि वे युवाओं का नई ऊर्जा और आत्मविश्वास के साथ मार्गदर्शन कर सकें।
अंत में, श्री कटारिया ने इस बात पर ज़ोर दिया कि भारत 2047 के विकसित भारत के विज़न की ओर बढ़ रहा है, जहाँ शिक्षा सबसे महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाएगी। उन्होंने कहा कि शिक्षक इस यात्रा में मार्गदर्शक प्रकाश हैं और यह उनकी ज़िम्मेदारी है कि वे ऐसे छात्रों का पोषण करें जो आत्मनिर्भर, नवोन्मेषी और सामाजिक रूप से ज़िम्मेदार हों। उन्होंने सभी से सामूहिक रूप से 2047 तक भारत को एक विकसित, समृद्ध और मूल्य-संचालित राष्ट्र बनाने का संकल्प लेने का आग्रह किया।
