The 8th Rogi Kalyaan Samiti (RKS) Executive Body meeting was held under the chairmanship of Shri Nishant Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner, UT Chandigarh on 13.02.2025 at Govt. Multi-Speciality Hospital, Sector-16, Chandigarh wherein several important issues were discussed and approved.
During the meeting, it was decided by the committee members that as per the vision of Administrator, UT Chandigarh dedicated ambulance service shall be started for senior citizens and bed ridden patients. Also, dedicated Help Desk shall be started for OPD, Gynae, Emergency Ward. It was also decided that 6 Caretakers/ Attendants will be hired to help the patients without any attendant. These caretakers will help and assist the patients in wheelchair, getting their medicines, getting their tests done. The proposal for hiring Data Entry Operators (DEOs) for Registration Counters and providing first 24 hours’ free treatment to all emergency patients at GMSH-16 being run on pilot basis was also discussed during the meeting. These services would be initiated after due approval of the governing body.
Prior to the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner, along with the senior officials of the Health department, took a round of the hospital to take an on spot assessment of the working of healthcare services being provided to the patients . He visited the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Post-Natal Ward, Labour Room (CLR), Advanced Pediatric Centre and Proposed Area for Emergency wing expansion.
Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav interacted with the patients and staff. He focused on the cleanliness, availability of medicine, quality of diet, privacy of the patients especially in the Labour Room, Emergency wing and Post Natal Wards . He appreciated the provision of cubicle curtains and partitions of the Hospital. He further inquired about the length of stay of the patients in the hospital and stressed upon the quality healthcare services during the hospital stay.
In the Advanced Pediatric Centre area, the Health officials apprised the DC regarding the services being offered to pediatrics patients along with provision for admission of newborn and low birth weight babies with complications. Further, he was also apprised about the facility of tele-consultation services and consultation being carried out with tertiary care facilities like PGIMER, Chandigarh for quality and need based healthcare services to the critically sick children. The Deputy Commissioner was also apprised about the robust referral system adopted by the Health Department. The proposed site/area for the expansion of the emergency services to decongest the Emergency Triage Area and decrease the patient on trolleys was discussed and the DC directed the concerned authorities to expedite the construction of the expansion of the emergency Triage area as proposed.
