Celebration of World Cancer Day- Day 2
The department of Dietetics, PGIMER, Chandigarh under the aegis of Indian Dietetic Association (IDA), NSI, IAPEN Chandigarh Chapter, celebrated “World Cancer Day” on 6th February, 2024 by organizing a special diet clinic at ONCO OPD (4th floor), New OPD, PGIMER, Chandigarh. Nutrition education, diet counseling and nutrition awareness program was organized for Cancer patients . Dr. Nancy Sahni, Chief Dietician, Department of Dietetics, PGIMER along with her dietetics team gave lecture to cancer patients regarding how to overcome the challenges of disease, how to improve nutritive value of tube feeds, busted dietary myths of patients, encouraged the patients to take high protein, high calorie diet to build up the health status. Dr. Rakesh Kapoor, Professor, department of Radiotherapy sensitized about importance of diet to the patients and how it can be a way to add more quality to life. The function was inaugurated by Medical Superintendent, Professor Vipin Koushal who encouraged such endeavors and lay stress on importance of precision nutrition. Approximately 350 patients were present in the OPD. Special diet clinic was organized through – out the days for individualized dietary consultation.
