CBC Chandigarh Celebrates 7th Edition of Poshan Pakhwada across Punjab and Himachal Pradesh

Chandigarh, April 22 : The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Chandigarh, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in collaboration with the District Administration and the Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, successfully celebrated the 7th edition of Poshan Pakhwada from April 8th to 22nd, 2025. These events were held across five districts in Punjab—Amritsar, Patiala, SAS Nagar, Faridkot, and Taran Taran—and five districts in Himachal Pradesh—Shimla, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, and Kinnaur.

The Poshan Pakhwada, aimed at raising awareness about nutrition, health, and hygiene, saw an engaging and vibrant series of cultural performances, including Nukkad Nataks (street plays), folk songs, and folk dances. Private Registered Troupes (PRTs) performed at various locations, spreading messages on proper nutrition diet and health. Their performances focused on key themes such as proper nutrition, obesity prevention, maternal care, and the Poshan Tracker App, with a special emphasis on the first 1000 days of a child’s life, etc.

This year’s campaign theme, “Shuddh Jal aur Swachhta Se Swasth Bachpan” (Healthy Childhood with Clean Water and Hygiene), with the tagline “Purn Poshan Ki Shuruwaat, Shuddh Jal aur Swachhta Ke Saath” (The Beginning of Complete Nutrition with Clean Water and Hygiene), was central to the performances. The cultural troupes highlighted the importance of clean water, hygiene, and healthy lifestyles, urging the community to adopt these practices to combat malnutrition and childhood obesity. The performances also focused on raising awareness about the Community-Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) and the critical role of the Poshan Tracker App in promoting nutrition.

The positive feedback from attendees emphasized the effectiveness of the cultural activities in driving behavioral change in the community. The local administration praised the performances to engage people and raise awareness on nutrition and health. Several departments also extended their gratitude to CBC Chandigarh for its active participation and expressed their desire for more cultural activities in future to further spread awareness.

During the 15-day campaign, the local administrations also organized various activities, reinforcing the importance of nutrition, hygiene, and health in the community. CBC Chandigarh shared cultural performances on various social media platforms, reaching a broader audience. The success of the Poshan Pakhwada was also highlighted in print and electronic media.

The Poshan Pakhwada initiative continues to be a vital platform for combating malnutrition through community participation, behavioral change, and the promotion of healthier lifestyles, making it a people-driven movement for a healthier, nourished India.
