₹3 crore released for jaggery, oil, soap and pending arrears of 950 sanitation workers — amount to be transferred to their accounts shortly

A major relief has been announced for 950 sanitation workers of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. The long-pending payments of jaggery, oil, soap and their previous arrears have been released. A total amount of ₹3 crore has been sanctioned, which will soon be transferred to the bank accounts of all workers, bringing a sense of satisfaction and happiness among them.

Today, the sanitation workers reached the Municipal Corporation office where, under the leadership of former Mayor and Councillor Rajesh Kalia, they welcomed Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla with dhols and garlands to express their gratitude. The workers also thanked BJP State President Jitender Pal Malhotra for his consistent efforts. Workers stated that due to the continuous follow-up and commitment of both leaders, this long-pending issue finally got resolved.

The sanitation workers shared that their jaggery-oil-soap allowance and arrears had been stuck for several months, causing them financial strain. They expressed that whenever they approached Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla and State President Jitender Pal Malhotra, they always received full support. They said today’s relief is the result of the sensitivity and priority shown by both leaders toward their concerns.

Former Mayor and Councillor Rajesh Kalia stated that sanitation workers are the backbone of the city’s cleanliness system, and protecting their rights is the highest priority. He added that continuous administrative follow-up was carried out to ensure the release of this ₹3 crore amount.

State President Jitender Pal Malhotra said that the BJP has always stood with the poor, labourers, sanitation workers, and the most marginalized sections of society — and will continue to stand with full strength and commitment. He assured that every issue faced by the workers will be resolved with complete dedication.

The announcement of the release of jaggery-oil-soap allowance and arrears for 950 workers created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and satisfaction among all sanitation staff. They said that this decision has boosted their morale and encouraged them to continue contributing even more sincerely to maintaining the cleanliness of the city.
