Chandigarh, February 13: A team of the Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested a clerk, Arun Kumar, red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹5,000 at the Faridabad Municipal Corporation office in Faridabad district.
Kumar, who was working under the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam Limited (HKRL), has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the ACB office in Faridabad.
Giving details, a government spokesperson said that the ACB team had received a complaint that Kumar had demanded a bribe of ₹10,000 from the complainant for making a birth certificate.
The ACB team laid a trap and caught Kumar red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹5,000 from the complainant. The entire process was carried out in a transparent manner in the presence of witnesses.
The ACB is investigating the matter and collecting all necessary evidence.
