Seven days Workshop on Emerging Trends in Nursing Practice organized by NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh
The National Institute of Nursing Education, PGIMER, Chandigarh in collaboration with Ministry of Health and Family welfare organized seven days’ workshop on “Emerging Trends in Nursing Practice” from 17th -23rd February, 2025. The theme reflected dynamic and rapidly changing landscape of nursing. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Vipin Kaushal, Medical Superintendent-cum-Head, Department of Hospital Administration, PGIMER, Chandigarh. Dr, Sukhpal Kaur, Principal, NINE and the chairperson alongwith resource persons welcomed the chief guest. Dr. Monika Dutta, Associate Professor, NINE unfolded the theme of the workshop. She said the use of AI, digital tools and concept of remote patient monitoring in healthcare expect nurses to be well-versed with these upcoming trends. She also emphasized the engagement of nurses in quality improvement initiatives.
Thirty nursing personnels with clinical or educational background from Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh participated in the workshop. The objectives of the workshop were that at the end of program, the participants will be able: to identify the emerging trends in nursing practice and apply the upcoming technology and technique for providing care to patients for better outcomes.
The workshop was conducted systematically as a seven-day program to fulfil the objectives. The workshop team alongwith participants explored the latest developments, innovations and best nursing practices that are shaping the future of nursing. The speakers shared their expertise on topics like professional communication, proactive emergency interventions, nurse-led clinics, quality improvement initiatives, m health applications etc. To enhance knowledge and skills of the participants, hands-on-training on BLS and ACLS, mechanical ventilation as well as hemodynamic monitoring were given. The scenario-based interventions on proactive emergency nursing exercises were also conducted. The participants were also given opportunities for group work.
On Valedictory Function of workshop, Dr Sukhpal Kaur, Principal, NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh emphasized in her address that the nursing professionals are key members of the health care team involved in using advancing technology in patient care. So, this workshop is admirable in its objective to sensitize them as well as to improve their knowledge and skill related to emerging trends in nursing practice.
