The “Department of Mathematics in collaboration with UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh” celebrated the 75th year of Indian Independence by organising a lecture on “The Imperishable Seed: How Hindu Mathematics Changed the World & Why this History was Erased”. The lecture started with a welcome address and was graced by Dr. Jayanti Dutta (Deputy Director, HRDC) by introducing the key speaker- Dr. Bhaskar Kamble who is an Author and Data Scientist, Berlin, Germany. The objective of the lecture was to highlight the role of Indian scientists & scientific institutions in pre-independent India. Dr. Bhaskar gave special emphasis on life and time of Sh. Ruchi Ram Sahni, an unsung hero of Indian Science. It was quite an interactive and interesting session. About 80 participants were in audience.
