Dr Kashmir Singh, Professor, Department of Biotechnology, Panjab university Chandigarh have received project funding under corporate social responsibility (CSR) from Nano-Tech chemical Brothers, Ludhiana. The project is on establishing tissue culture technologies on medicinal plants and the company will provide funding support of Rs 30 lac (10 lac per year) for minimum period of 3 years. The company is working on cosmetics and nutraceuticals and Dr Singh will develop protocol for mass multiplication of selected medicinal plants and standardize the extraction methods of important compounds from plants. The whole plant extract and purified compounds will be used for improvements of industrially important products.
