35 donate blood at a jointly organised Voluntary Blood
Donation Camp by RIYO, NMO, Transfusion Medicine,
SAPT & ARD at PGIMER
In continuum of the ongoing Nation-wide “Rakt Dhara” Campaign, a blood
donation camp with theme “Jeevan Rekha” was jointly organised by
Rising India Youth Organisation (RIYO), Chandigarh and National
Medico Organisation (NMO) Chandigarh on Tuesday in collaboration
with Department of Transfusion Medicine, Student Association of
Physical Therapy (SAPT) and Association of Resident Doctors
(ARD), PGIMER Chandigarh.
Around 35 people donated their blood for providing a life line to the
needy. Sh. Dinesh Joshi, Shrestha Joshi and Sagar Joshi of same
family in Chandigarh who had recently suffered from COVID-19,
responsibly came forward for testing and donating convalescent plasma,
setting an example for the society.
Director PGI Chandigarh Padam Shree Prof. Jagat Ram and OSD to
Union Health Minister Dr. Varinder Garg inaugurated the camp and
lauded the noble gesture of all donors. Dr. Uttam Thakur, President
and Dr. Pranay Mahajan, General Secretary of NMO Chandigarh said
that “Rakt Dhara” Campaign has proved to be a life line all over country
during this unprecedented pandemic and appealed people of nation to
come forward for this noble gesture as a continuous routine process.
RIYO’s State Convenor Chandigarh, Anirudh Uniyal said “Through
blood donation, we create new life”. He called upon the people and other
organisations of country to become partners in these activities of public
interest. Dr. Nippun Prinja, Organizing Secretary of NMO and this
camp, Shivam Sharma, General Secretary of SAPT and many
volunteers of other organisations participated significantly in this event
