2nd day of five day festival “ Sanskar Bharti Kala Utsav “ is marked with soulful kathak dance ballet “Ahilaya “ by Dr. Samira Koser
Ongoing 5 day festival “Sanskar Bharti Kala UTsav” being organized by Sanskar Bharti in collaboration with NZCC , Pracheen Kala Kendra , Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi , and Chandigarh Lalit Kala Academy from 20th to 24th November 2024 at Tagore theatre at 5:30 pm daily. Prof. Saubhagya Vardhan of Sanskar Bharti and Sh. Sajal Koser , Secretary , Pracheen Kala Kendra were also present on this occasion.
2nd day of this event witnessed a soulful dance ballet “Ahilaya” by Dr. Samira Koser, an eminent Kathak dance exponent. She commenced her program with invocatory piece “Krishan stuti” with bols bali bali mohan murat ki bali” in which while praising Lord Krishna she was amazed by his mesmerizing beauty. Then she moved on to present her main presentation “Ahilaya” She depicted the story of Ahilaya which is one of the soulful stories found in mythological texts. Ahilaya, daughter of Brahmaji , is considered to be the epitome of beauty and grace. Ahilaya was married to Maharishi Gautam but Indra Dev was also fascinated from her beauty. One day when Gautam Rishi was away from his ashram, then Indra took the form of Gautam and seduced his wife. When sage came to know , he cursed Ahilaya to turn into stone. Later, by the touch of Lord Shri Ram’s feet, Ahilya became a woman again. This dance ballet also raises a question in the minds of the audience that whether it is Indra’s lust or Gautam Rishi’s curse, in every situation , it is Ahilaya who is cursed. Even in today’s era, hurting the self-respect of a woman is a common thing. To build a safe society, we have to expand the scope of our mind set to take the society towards a new era. With the beautiful message Dr. Samira concluded her presentation. Her abhinaya and bhavas were highly admirable and she won the heart of audience by her soulful performance.
She was ably accompanied by Guru Brij Mohan Gangani on Padhant, Sh. Madho Prasad on vocals, Sh. Shakeel Ahmed on Tabla , Sh. Mehmood Khan on Tabla , Sh. Saleem Kumar (Sitar) , Sh. Mahaveer Gangani (Pakhawaj) and Sh. Azhar Shakeel on Violin.
