In a riveting conclusion to the Indian Audit & Accounts Department (IA&AD) North Zone Carrom Tournament, Pr.AG Uttar Pradesh’s team claimed the coveted title of Men’s Team Event champions. The high-stakes final saw them secure a resounding 3-0 victory over the formidable Pr.AG Delhi ‘B’ team. The three-day competition, hosted by the Office of the Principal Accountant General (Audit) Punjab, unfolded at Plot no. 21, Sector-17 E, Chandigarh, from November 2 to November 4, 2023.
Men’s Team Event: Uttar Pradesh’s Triumph
In a dramatic finale that had fans on the edge of their seats, Pr.AG Uttar Pradesh showcased their carrom prowess to clinch victory. They dominated Pr.AG Delhi ‘B’ with a scoreline of 3-0, securing their place as champions in the Men’s Team Event category.
Men’s Veteran Category: Intense Battles
The Men’s Veteran Semi-final Round was marked by intense battles and impressive performances. Sh. Shubh Raj of Pr.AG Delhi ‘A’ exhibited exceptional carrom skills, defeating Sh. Ramesh Thakur of Pr.AG Himachal Pradesh in a closely fought match with a score of 2-1. Meanwhile, Sh. Amrender Shrivastav of Pr.AG Uttar Pradesh delivered a dominant performance, securing a 2-0 victory against Sh. Jitender Singh of Pr.AG Delhi ‘B.’ The highly anticipated final match in this category, featuring Sh. Shubh Raj of Pr.AG Delhi ‘A’ against Sh. Amrender Shrivastav of Pr.AG Uttar Pradesh, is set to take place today.
Men’s Individual Category: Intense Pre-Quarter Finals
The Men’s Individual Pre-Quarter Final Round showcased fierce competition and remarkable skills. Sh. Khurshid Hassan of Pr.AG Uttar Pradesh emerged victorious with a score of 2-0 against Sh. Kulbhushan of Pr.AG Delhi ‘B.’ Sh. Deepak of Pr.AG Haryana displayed his carrom expertise by defeating Sh. Satyendra Kumar of Pr.AG Uttar Pradesh with a score of 2-0. Excitement filled the air as Sh. Didar Singh of Pr.AG Punjab secured a 2-0 victory against Sh. Madan Singh of Pr.AG Haryana.
As the tournament progresses, it promises more nail-biting action with Quarterfinals, Semi-finals, and the highly anticipated Finals in the Men’s Individual Category scheduled for today.
Women’s Individual Category: Exciting Semi-Finals
In the Women’s Individual Semi-final round, carrom enthusiasts were treated to an exciting display of talent. Ms. Geetha B. Shankar of Pr.AG Delhi ‘B’ showcased her carrom prowess with a 2-0 victory over Ms. Shobha Raman of Pr.AG Delhi ‘A.’ Ms. V Radhika of Pr.AG Delhi ‘B’ secured her place in the finals with a 2-0 victory against Ms. Varsha Rani of Pr.AG Delhi ‘A.’ The Women’s Individual finals are set to feature a fierce showdown between Ms. Geetha B. Shankar of Pr.AG Delhi ‘B’ and Ms. V Radhika of Pr.AG Delhi ‘B.’
The grand finale of the tournament will culminate with the distribution of prizes to the winners and runners-up at 3:30 PM. Sh. Shailendra Vikram Singh, IA&AS, will grace the event as the Chief Guest.
