Under the auspices of G 20 and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav a webinar on “G20 Partnership: Economic Implications for India” was organised by PGGCG-42 Chandigarh on 12 June, 2023.The purpose of the webinar was to analyse the role that India’s relationship with the G20 and the advantages that it provides in a variety of areas, including trade and commerce, employment, tourism, and climate change.Prof. Nisha Aggarwal, Principal of the college was the Chief Guest. She welcomed the Key Note Speaker Prof. Aswini Nanda, a Professor at Centre for Research in Rural & Industrial Development, Sector 19, Chandigarh and an expert in international economics. While addressing the participants Prof.Aggarwal appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee,other faculty members and students and emphasised on the need for more such activities to enlighten and showcase India’s emerging role as world leader after assuming the Presidency of G 20.Key note speaker Prof. Nanda presented a detailed review of the interconnectedness among economies and introduced the audience to the G20, its significance, its spread, and the participating countries. He also offered an outline of the G20’s role in the global economy.
Prof. Nanda drew attention to India’s current leadership of the G20 and emphasized the country’s importance in influencing the economic policies of other nations throughout the world. He provided light on the economic implications of India’s participation with G20, emphasizing its influence on trade, commerce, employment, and tourism
Following the presentation, a question-answer session provided an opportunity for participants to engage with Prof. Nanda and seek clarification on various aspects of G20 partnership. Prof. Sudhir Hindwan, convener of the G20 & Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav committee thanked Madam Principal for her support and guidance as well as thanked Prof. Nanda for his informative session. Prof. Hindwan also thanked his team for organizing the webinar and expressed gratitude towards everyone who participated.
The webinar was a huge success, with 75 attendees. The attendees came away with a stronger grasp of the economic ramifications of India’s affiliation with the G20. The event, which highlighted India’s activities in the global economic community, made a contribution to the G20 forum and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations that are still going on.
