UIDAI Organizes Aadhaar Update Camps at Juvenile Home and Pingalwada Society
Chandigarh, 17th July 2024 – In a significant step towards the inclusion of deprived sections of society into the mainstream, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Department of Information Technology (DIT) Chandigarh, organized Aadhaar Enrolment Camps at Pingalwada Society Centre in Sector 55 and the Juvenile Observation Home for Boys in Sector 25, Chandigarh.
Total of 57 enrolments and updates were successfully conducted during these camps. The primary objective of these camps was to facilitate residents living in these centres to enrol for Aadhaar, ensuring they have the necessary identification for accessing various government services and benefits.
This initiative underscores the commitment of UIDAI and the UT Government to support the community and enhance the welfare of citizens. All individuals who have been enrolled will be issued Aadhaar soon. Key benefits of Aadhaar include unique identification for every citizen, simplified access to government benefits and services, a streamlined process for various welfare applications, and enhanced security and identification measures.
In the recently concluded District Level Aadhaar Monitoring Committee meeting, the District Magistrate of UT Chandigarh urged parents in Chandigarh to enrol their children for Aadhaar if they have not done so yet.
He further appealed to parents to update the biometrics of children who have attained the ages of 5 and 15 years at nearby Aadhaar Enrolment Centers. This proactive measure is aimed at ensuring that every citizen, especially those from marginalized sections, can avail themselves of their rights and benefits through a valid identification system.
