CHANDIGARH. In ongoing efforts to encourage the go-green culture in the city of Chandigarh, a tree plantation drive was organised by the Excel Cooperative society in Sector 48 today. Davesh Moudgil, ex-Mayor of Chandigarh and the present area councillor was the chief guest at the function. While commending the efforts of the society in promoting Go-green Chandigarh, Moudgil underlined the importance of planting more and more trees in the city especially in the present scenario and encouraged other societies and organisations to promote the same.
Rajnish Sharma, the newly elected President of the society, while welcoming the ex-Mayor, introduced the office bearers of the society. SK Dhawan, Joint secretary lauded the efforts of Moudgil in the development of the city and welfare of the residents of Chandigarh. Moudgil was also requested to take up the issue regarding take over of the maintenance of internal roads of the society by the corporation, besides other common issues. Moudgil assured to take up the pending issues to their logical conclusion soon.
The function was also attended by Sudhir Malhotra, vice President, RS Khokhar, Secretary, SK Dhawan, Joint secretary, Ganesh Chaudhary, Treasurer and JJ Singh, RWA President, besides others.
