Press Council of India endorses the demand made by Indian Journalist Union and asked the Government of India to treat Journalist Corona Warriors.
The matter is discussed in full Council meeting held on Tuesday in New Delhi. During the meeting member Amar Devulapalli raised the issue, he said that Journalists facing lot of difficulties many of them have lost their lives during Covid 19 pandemic, they have to be treated Corona Warriors and insurance coverage to deceased Journalist families be given, his arguments were supported by Balwinder Singh Jammu and M A Majid they said that Journalists are at the forefront risking their lives. During the discussion the other members extended their support for the demand, later council approved the motion to ask govt of India to declare Journalists the Corona Warriors. Council also resolved to address govt of India and all States/Uts to extend a regular insurance coverage to Journalists.
Indian Journalist Union persistingly demands to declare Journalists Corona Warriors, an online movement is continuing by the Union at all india level.
