The Department of Laws, Panjab University, Chandigarh, successfully organized the 1st CCI- Panjab University National Moot Court Competition, 2022 held on 19-20 November 2022. The Competition was organized in collaboration with the Competition Commission of India. The competition had teams participating across India from various Universities/ Colleges and Institutions. In total there were 25 teams that had registered out of which 22 teams participated in the Competition.

On 19th November the preliminary rounds I and II were held, followed by quarter-final rounds for which 8 teams qualified. On 20th November 2022, the semi-final and final rounds took place. Teams from RGNUL- Patiala, UPES Dehradun, UILS, Panjab University, and Symbiosis Law School Hyderabad qualified for the semi-final rounds. Competition Commission of India nominees Mr. Shekhar, Director- Financial Analysis stream and Ms, Payal Malik Adviser (Eco.), CCI judged the semi-final and final rounds respectively. Based on knock-out rounds RGNUL- Patiala, and UPES- Dehradun qualified for the final round which was judged by a panel of eminent judges, Ms. Payal Malik- Adviser (Eco), Competition Commission of India, Mr. Akshay Bhan- Senior Advocate, Panjab, and Haryana High Court, Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Kaur- Director UILS, Panjab University, and Mr. Gautam Shahi- Partner, Dua Associates, Delhi. RGNUL- Patiala was declared the winner of the Competition they won a trophy and cash prize of Rs. 40,000, UPES- Dehradun were declared as the runners-up they won a trophy and cash prize of Rs. 30,000.

The prize for best advocate/ speaker was won by Ihina Mukhopadhyay from Symbiosis Law School Hyderabad she received a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and a trophy and the prize for the best memorial was won by UILS, Panjab University, Chandigarh who received Rs. 12,000 and a trophy. The two-day event was successfully coordinated by Dr. Shipra Gupta. Dr. Devinder Singh, Chairperson of the Department of Laws congratulated the organizing committee led by Dr. Shipra on the successful completion of the event.
